My child

Today I received the worldvision child sponsorship package. Holding that package before opening it, I knew I did the right thing.

“Thank you for changing our lives” thats the message on the front cover. Inside the package, they included details of the sponsered child, guide to communicate with the child, a letter of thanks from WV, a newsletter, CD & DVD on 15th anniversary of WV…

.

and yeah here’s my child!

His name – Quach Trung Kien

This 5 years old kid is from Lac Son, Vietname. Where is it? Its 100km south of Hanoi, in a mountaineous area.

(looks abit like me when im young!)

Having sponsered a child is not the end! It is just the beginning. We can write to them telling a little bit of ourselves, send them small gifts, WV also organise sponsor’s visits to projects where we can meet our sponsered child and see his/her community is being transformed.

.

I encourage anyone who is reading this to take up this challenge, to make a change in someone’s live. We can’t help everyone, but we can help someone.

pre-December

don’t know what to post here… so let see what’s going on with me.

• been watching quite a few movies (Happy Feet 2, Puss in Boots, 50/50, Tin-Tin)
• picking up bass… a lazy alternative to other instruments!
• have not been flying frquently, and the good news (cleared functional – passed the first half of training)
• learnt a new card game from Ronnie. Monopoly Deal.
• decorating the church and preparing for christmas events.
• amazed with people taking the time to edit videos for political reasons. and it looks good!
• volunteered in the graduation of Dignity for Children Foundation. They provideo education for the poor and refugees.
• realised many have stopped blogging for months, if not years.
• Got myself a new headphone, but not happy with it.
• havent been doing much sports lately.

picking up starfishes

“While wandering a deserted beach at dawn, stagnant in my work, I saw a man in the distance bending and throwing as he walked the endless stretch towards me. As he came near, I could see that he was throwing starfish, abandoned on the sand by the tide, back into the sea.

.

When he was close enough I asked him why he was working so hard at this strange task. He said that the sun would dry the starfish and they would die. I said to him that I thought he was foolish. there were thousands of starfish on miles and miles of beach.


One man alone could never make a difference.


He smiled as he picked up the next starfish. Hurling it far into the sea he said,
“It makes a difference for this one.”


I abandoned my writing and spent the morning throwing starfish.”
